Job Purpose:

The Assistant Category Manager will support the Category Manager in the effective procurement and contract management of specific categories of goods or services. This role involves assisting in the development and execution of category strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery, ensuring alignment with the Council's objectives and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Category Support: Assist the Category Manager in selecting, pricing, and positioning category products or services.
• Market Analysis: Analyse customer feedback and market trends to identify areas for improvement.
• Data Management: Develop and maintain category documents and records in accordance with council policies.
• Inventory Management: Perform inventory and supply chain management to achieve turnover goals and maximize value.
• Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any supply chain issues.

• Promotional Activities: Assist in creating and implementing promotional campaigns to drive value.
• Budget Assistance: Assist in budget development and expense management programs.
• Vendor Relations: Conduct business reviews with vendors to achieve mutual goals.
• Internal Communication: Communicate information about new products or services and changes to relevant teams within the council.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Understanding of Category Management and demonstrable experience of developing category strategies through application of a data-driven methodology and engagement with supply markets.
