Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in East London, are looking for an experienced Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their private sector housing operations. 

Position: Tenancy Sustainment Officer
Rate: £41.90 per Hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (6 Months) Possible Extension   

Purpose:

• To conciliate and mediate, and successfully resolve disputes between tenants and landlords. To take effective and appropriate enforcement action under the relevant legislation when matters cannot be resolved informally.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Impartially investigate alleged offences under the Protection from Eviction Act 1977 and other related Acts where landlord and tenant offences may have been committed. To prepare legal court prosecution case files, giving evidence at court as necessary.
• As a front-line officer, carry out all duties connected with investigating allegations of harassment and/or illegal eviction of private sector tenants.
• Respond to all complaints and requests for assistance, support, inform, advise, and negotiate with tenants and landlords and all other stakeholders resulting in the best prevention solution to ensure that the council meets it statutory responsibilities and the needs of the tenant(s).

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Tenancy Sustainment Officer role or equivalent.
• Hold a professional qualification related to the themes of housing, tenancy and landlord law and/or tenancy support and sustainment.
• The officer will need extensive experience of PACE interviews and statement taking regarding the increase in unlawful evictions and with the renters Rights Act shortly coming into Royal Ascent, where the removal of section 21 notices for landlords to regain possession of their properties, we need these officers sooner rather than later.
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle. 
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
