Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Hampshire, are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team and play a crucial role in their accountancy and finance operations.       

Position: Senior Accountant
Rate: £27.37 per hour (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Sep 2026) with Possible Extension   

Purpose:

• The purpose of the role is to work with the Finance Manager or Group Accountants to deliver a full range of high quality financial management and accountancy services to a range of clients.

Job Responsibilities: 

• This role also provides specialist knowledge and expertise in order to assist in the city council’s budget process, budget forecasting and monitoring processes.
• This role provides financial advice to members and officers and ensures that completion of statutory financial statements, statutory returns and financial analysis.
• It assists in the role of ensuring that the council’s assets are managed in line with current legislation, the constitution and financial rules and other professional codes of practice.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Senior Accountant role or equivalent.
• Be CCAB qualified i.e. ICA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA and be able to demonstrate professional updating.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
