Job Role: Estates Surveyor
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: 19/06/2026 (possible extension)
Number of Positions: 1 position
Location: Southampton
Rate of Pay: £31.13p/h umbrella
Office Based/Hybrid: An average of 1 day week visit to Southampton for property inspection is necessary.

Job Summary:
The Successful candidate will carry out rent reviews, lease renewals and new lettings of vacant properties.

They will manage repairs and maintenance, working in collaboration with the Repairs and Maintenance team and the rental income working closely with the internal finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• To maintain membership of RICS and adhere to all professional codes of conduct including taking responsibility for own Continuing Professional Conduct.
• Support the Valuation and Estates Team Leader in providing professional advice on the Council’s commercial investment and operational property portfolios including matters relating to leasing, acquisition, sale, valuation, property management and rationalisation.
• To provide property and valuation support / advice to the Council project teams i.e. Regeneration, Housing, Highways or Education.
• Support the delivery of a service supporting the Councils Growth agenda through improving revenue of its investment portfolio generating capital receipts through disposal of surplus assets, supporting regeneration schemes in providing new residential and commercial property
• To undertake property acquisitions for regeneration, investment operational or for strategic purposes. This may include the use of Compulsory Purchase Powers.
• To undertake and negotiate property disposals. Agents may be instructed for this purpose in which case it will be necessary to manage the appointment.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years experience within a Estates Surveyor role or equivalent 
• Degree level education with professional qualification (RICS)
• To demonstrate requisite experience and understanding of the asset and estate management, valuation, and or development and regeneration process.
