Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Northwest London, are looking for an experienced Lawyer to join their team and play a crucial role in their legal & governance operations.   

Position: 
Lawyer
Rate: Negotiable (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (July 2026) with Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Service Area: Experience in either Adult Social Care, Education or Employment

Job Purpose: 

• To advise and have conduct of legal files on behalf of all the clients of the council, including local authorities, housing associations and schools and to provide advice, representation and undertake research as requested in relation to Adults Social Care, Education and Employment matters (lawyers will specialise in one or more areas). 

Job Responsibilities: 

• To advise officers and members, including in public forums, in a proactive and politically sensitive manner. 
• The post holder will be primarily based in the practice’s London office but will be expected to travel to courts and client offices, external barristers and private law firms to support specific cases or projects.
• To ensure that the practice delivers a seamless and efficient legal service by supporting a team ethos, including sharing best practice and liaising with colleagues.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Lawyer/Solicitor role or equivalent.
• The post holder must be a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, qualified solicitor, barrister or appropriately qualified overseas lawyer.
• Experience advising in relation to at least one of the following areas:- Adults Social Care, Education and Employment. 
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
