Office Based/Hybrid: 1 day per week in office
Rate of Pay (Umbrella and Inside IR35): £30 - £45

Short Brief/Requirement:
To start asap.
This is a maternity cover so will finish end August, mid Sept 2026.
Full time, ideally to attend office on a weekly basis (Tuesday is the team day)
The role will involve dealing with low value contracts, funding agreements and other miscellaneous agreements under supervision. They will also deal with correspondence, emails etc and provide advice on non-complex cases.
 
Purpose:
To act as a fee earner in legal services primarily assisting solicitors and other more senior fee earners with the conduct of legal cases. This position is an important one within a legal team as the individual will develop and utilise their understanding of the law to support more senior fee earners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use IKEN / Case Lines court bundling and IKEN case management system as main operational system for delivering function and operate as superuser.
• Oversee and assist legal assistants in the preparation of court bundles  and in the operation of any court bundling system including delivering documents to court as and when necessary
• To progressto carry a routine caseload, under the supervision of a solicitor/lawyer, and represent the Council in relation to routine and/or non-contentious matters.
• To bring to the attention of the Principal Solicitor/Senior Solicitor any matter of which they, the Head of Legal and Governance Services or the Council’s Monitoring Officer should be aware.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years experience within a Paralegal or equivalent
• CILEx paralegal certificate Level 3/Professional Diploma in Law and Practice/Graduate member of CILEx/Legal Practice Course (LPC)
