Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Central London, are looking for an experienced Contracts Commercial Lead to join their team and play a crucial role in their procurement & commercial operations. 

Position: Contracts Commercial Lead
Rate: Up to £650 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (6 Months) with Possible Extension 

Job Purpose: 

• The role will lead a targeted programme to deliver measurable cost efficiencies across existing contracts, embed good practice and identify further opportunities to optimise contract management and supplier performance.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Run rapid assessments of priority contracts to identify renegotiation opportunities, cost-saving levers and any reimbursements (e.g., rebates/credits).
• Concentrate effort on contracts with in-built extensions and larger strategic contracts, sequencing activity to maximise near-term savings and risk reduction (particularly concerning supplier failure and ensuring robust financial oversight to support supplier sustainability).
• Work with procurement, finance, legal and contract managers to agree changes to the contract management approach and amended contract terms that support council priorities and to enhance savings opportunities.
• Lead supplier negotiations to realise immediate savings and longer-term savings opportunities while maintaining service quality and compliance.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Contracts Commercial Lead role or equivalent.
• Strong commercial analysis skills (spend analytics, lifecycle costing, price/volume drivers, benchmarking) and fluency with contract data.
• Demonstrable track record delivering contract savings and term improvements in complex supplier portfolios in public and/or private sector (particularly in areas such as construction, facilities management and public realm
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
