Job Role: School Improvement Officer
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: 3 months (possible extension)
Number of Positions: 1 position
Location: Bristol
Office Based/Hybrid: 2/3 days in the office
DBS Required: Enhanced DBS required
Rate of Pay: £400 a day umbrella inside IR35

Short Brief/Requirement:

• Evaluate the quality and impact of the LA’s duty in relation to provision in LA maintained schools through scrutiny of school improvement strategies, school improvement plans, progress and outcomes data, behaviour and attendance data and curriculum delivery to children and young people.
  
  
• To work closely with the LA Early Years Improvement Officer, Early Years Teaching School and lead teachers in providing support to schools and education, particularly in relation to transition into primary settings.
  
  
• Identify and promote good practice and provision so that, where necessary, improvements are accelerated, secured in schools across the school system in both the primary and secondary sectors.
• Contribute to the development, planning and evaluation of LA strategies for improving outcomes for children and young people, including the school improvement traded offer, CPD, research and school-to-school network collaboration opportunities.
• Work with the Lead for School Improvement in supporting LA maintained schools, following Ofsted inspections where there are serious concerns

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years experience working as a School Improvement Officer or equivalent
• Enhanced DBS required
• Work with Governing Bodies, for example around Headteacher recruitment and performance management.
• Ensure that safe working practices are adopted by employees and in premises/work areas for which the post holder is responsible to maintain a safe working environment for employees and service users.
