Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Northwest London, are looking for an experienced Debt Recovery Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their recovery operations.   

Position: Debt Recovery Officer
Rate: £25 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (April 2026) with Possible Extension  

Purpose:

• The post holder is required to recover and enforce collection for debts including Council Tax, Sundry Debt and/or any debt recovery portfolio managed within the Council.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Use a variety of debt recovery techniques to enable successful recovery of all debts and minimise financial and/or subsidy loss to the Council, demonstrating sensitivity to the financial constraints clients may face balanced with the financial interests of the Council.
• Take ownership of debt cases, making arrangements, pursuing payment, taking cases through the debt recovery process.
• Acting as the first point of contact within the recovery and enforcement team, maintaining professional communications with internal and external customers by taking responsibility for all post, telephone and electronic queries.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Debt Recovery Officer role or equivalent.
• Experience of providing customer focused advice, information, dealing with enquiries, transactions and complaints.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
