Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Central London, are looking for an experienced
Health and Safety Lead to join their team and play a crucial role in their (standards, engagement & culture) operations.       

Position: Health and Safety Lead
Rate: £550 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (May 2026) Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: 2 days in the office

Job Purpose:

• This is a strategic and high-impact interim assignment focused on stabilising current work, progressing priority Health & Safety improvements and preparing a structured handover for permanent staff. The role is designed to move quickly, create clarity and ensure that key frameworks and tools are in place—not to deliver long-term ownership or cultural transformation.

Job Duties: 

• Establishing a clear baseline of Health & Safety maturity across the Council.
  
• Review and update existing Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
• Review and reset the Health & Safety engagement and communications approach.
• Refresh or produce priority corporate standards and model risk assessments.
• Support managers to embed Health & Safety into day-to-day operations.
• Identify key risks, gaps and areas of duplication.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Health and Safety Lead role or equivalent.
• Senior Health & Safety leadership experience in large, complex organisations.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
