Job Role: Highway Network Maintenance Engineer
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: 3 months (possible extension)
Location: Wakefield
Office Based/Hybrid: Hybrid
Rate of Pay: £24 p/h umbrella inside IR35


Role Purpose:
To design new highway construction schemes within the Traffic, Engineering and Design team
  
Providing advice to Councillors, committees, public inquiries, other services, private developers and the public on highway design, construction and traffic management.

Key Responsibilities:

• To take responsibility for specific projects or ongoing areas of work within the Engineering Design Team.
• To contribute to the overall strategic aims of the Planning, Transportation and Highways service area.
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships between management, other teams and departments, employees and trade unions.
• At the discretion of the Head of Service (or nominated officer), such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.
• To undertake and manage the investigation, consultation, evaluation, design, programming, contract preparation, implementation of highway improvement proposals.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• A minimum of two years’ relevant experience as a Highway Network Maintenance Engineer or equivalent 
• Good understanding of computer software applicable to construction and construction management, (AutoCad, Key Systems etc.)
• Experience in analysing and reporting on complex highway engineering problems
