Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Northwest England, are looking for an experienced Planning Lawyer to join their team and play a crucial role in their planning service.  

Position: Planning Lawyer
Rate: Negotiable (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temp (Oct 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Fully Remote 

Job Purpose:

• Provide crucial legal advice on development, regeneration, and land use, managing complex caseloads including Section 106 agreements, planning appeals, and enforcement. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide clear legal guidance to elected councillors, planning committees, and senior officers on planning applications, policy formulation, and governance. 
• Drafting and negotiating s106 agreements, clearing reports for planning committee. 
• Work alongside planning, highways, and property teams to ensure robust and transparent decision-making. 

Job Requirements:

• Admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Fellow with a current practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one).
• Strong grasp of town and country planning legislation, local government governance, and administrative law.
• Excellent negotiation, advocacy, political awareness, and stakeholder communication skills.
