Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West Essex, are looking for an experienced Democratic Services & Legal Support Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their service for the Council, Committees, Sub-Committees, Panels and Working Groups of the Council.           

Position: Democratic Services & Legal Support Officer
Rate: £21.21 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (Nov 2027) Possible Extension  

Purpose:

• To provide a professional and comprehensive support service for the Council, Committees, Sub-Committees, Panels and Working Groups of the Council.

Job Responsibilities: 

• To organise and clerk Committee meetings, boards or panel with external stakeholders as required.
• To provide professional advice on the conduct of Council business.
• To manage assigned committee forward work plans.
• To maintain the Council’s electronic Governance records.
• To log track and monitor the implementation of Committee, Sub-Committees and Working Group decisions.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• Experience using IssueManager.
• Confidence in attending Cabinet and Full Council Meetings.
• Knowledge of Modern.gov software package.
• Extensive working knowledge of a wide range of MS Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
