JOB SUMMARY
The Newly Qualified Social worker is responsible to manage a Children & Families caseload involving the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate action, to ensure that appropriate resources are deployed to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and their families

JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
  

• To provide quality social work services to vulnerable children, young people and their families and/or carers, based on the policy and objectives of the Children, Schools & Families department.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other operational Social Work Teams and colleagues in the council and external partners. 
• Undertake direct work with children, young people and their families, taking into account their wishes and feelings
• Prepare, in a timely fashion, statements/applications for submission to Family Courts and represent the Council’s Children, Schools & Families Service as and when required in Court in accordance with the Council’s procedures to safeguard and promote the welfare of children

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

• Social Work Qualification (Masters in Social Work or Social Work BA/BSc, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW)
• Registered as a social worker with the Health and Care Professions Council Standards
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Children & Families legislation, guidance and new practices and their implications, in relation to child care practice
• Knowledge of policies, statutory regulations and guidance relating to safeguarding and child protection
• Ability to manage a caseload, under the direction and supervision of a Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager, who will approve care plans, key case decisions and written reports
