Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in North London, are looking for an experienced Principal Network Compliance Officer.

• Responsible for daily inspections and enforcement under the New Roads and Street Works Act, Highways Act, and safety inspections.
• Improve highway conditions through enforcement and compliance.
• Collaborate with police, Council departments, and partner agencies for effective service delivery.

• Supervise statutory undertakers’ works to ensure compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the Highways Act 1980, and associated codes of practice.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and raise works orders to maintain highway standards.
• Plan and monitor temporary traffic restrictions, road closures, and diversion routes.
• Issue notices, fixed penalty notices, and other legal documents as necessary.
• Represent the Council in public inquiries, meetings, and legal proceedings.
• Investigate and respond to customer service issues, resolving complaints and improving service outcomes.
• Provide expert guidance to technical officers, coaching team members, and supporting professional development.
• Act as deputy to the Network Team Leader as required.
• Ensure compliance with reinstatement specifications, safety codes, and highways regulations.
• Coordinate investigatory inspections, including coring programs, to ensure high standards.
• Maintain accurate records and reports on work schedules and compliance issues.
• Build relationships with internal teams, residents, businesses, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality services.
• Provide technical advice to stakeholders on highways and network compliance matters.

• Comprehensive knowledge of: The London Permit Scheme. Traffic Management Act 2004.Highways Act 1980 and New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
• Experience with enforcement actions and legal proceedings related to highways.
• Proven ability to manage inspections and enforce regulations to meet statutory objectives.
• Proficiency in IT systems, including mobile working technology and management systems.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and patrol on foot.
• Availability to work outside normal hours, including rapid response to emergencies.

• Educated to Advanced Level or relevant equivalent experience.
• Street Works Supervisor qualification or similar (desirable).
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
