Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: Until December 2025 possible extension
Number of Positions: 4 positions available
Location: Brent
Office Based/Hybrid: 1 day in the office
Rate of Pay: £26 p/h umbrella inside IR35
Pay Negotiable: No
Short Brief/Requirement:
Experience of debt recovery, with experience of working with one or more of the following Revenues systems:
- Abacus - Adult Social Care
- NEC (Northgate) Revenues – Council Tax Recovery
  

Purpose:

• The post holder is required to recover and enforce collection for debts including Council Tax, Parking and Road Traffic, Housing Benefit Overpayments, Adult Social Care, Sundry Debt and/or any debt recovery portfolio managed within the Organisation.
• To recover all debts in an efficient and objective manner, giving absolute attention to the financial interests of the Council in terms of all revenue and debt streams, the organisation’s ethical debt recovery policy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use a variety of debt recovery techniques to enable successful recovery of all debts and minimise financial and/or subsidy loss to the Council, demonstrating sensitivity to the financial constraints clients may face balanced with the financial interests of the organisation
• Acting as the first point of contact within the recovery and enforcement team, maintaining professional communications with internal and external customers by taking responsibility for all post, telephone and electronic queries.
• Liaise with internal & external stakeholders in respect of the recovery of debt through bankruptcy, charging orders and committal proceedings, referring appropriate cases and monitoring subsequent progress regarding action through the courts, for bankruptcy including the issuing of statutory demands, forced sale, charging orders, attachment of benefits and attachment of earnings, to ensure maximise debt recovery
• Liaise with audit and investigations, and government departments on potential fraud cases in relation to recovery of debt.
• Liaise with and work closely with internal and external legal services providers, enforcement agents and debt collection agencies to ensure the maximum recovery of debt

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years experience within a Debt Recovery Officer role or equivalent.
