Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Southwest England, are looking for an experienced Principal Docks Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in their regeneration operations.  

Position: Principal Docks Engineer
Rate: £450 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (January 2025) with Possible Extension   

Purpose:

• To develop and deliver a strategic approach to delivering harbour repairs more than £100m over the next decade.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for negotiating, monitoring & managing Docks portfolio of supplier contracts to secure the overall improvements and other benefits set out in each contract.
• To Provide professional & practical expertise and strategic direction to all engineering & dredging matters within the city Docks and the engineering team.
• Be accountable for, control & define tasks duties & work programmes for staff & contractors under your control including all Health and safety responsibilities, safe systems of work to ensure the authority meets its statutory requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Commercial Estates Surveyor role or equivalent.
• Minimum BEng (Hons) or equivalent demonstrable industry experience in related engineering discipline.
• Proven record of significant experience in a related engineering discipline including site experience.
• Proven experience and skills in mechanical/hydraulic/marine/electrical maintenance in a docks environment.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
