Job Role: Benefits, Taxation & Income Officer
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: October 2025
Location: Barnsley
Office Based/Hybrid: FULLY REMOTE
DBS Required: Basic
Rate of Pay:  £20-28p/h
Short Brief/Requirement:
To assess all claims for Council Tax Support. 
Must have experience in working in Benefits and Taxation and aware of Benefit legislation.
Must also have experience in Council Tax input.
Must have experience in working on Academy and Enterprise. 
Must have good communication skills and may also be required on general admin. 
Must have good knowledge of working on excel. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer Benefits, Taxation and Income documentation and correspondence, assisting in the delivery of performance linked to corporate objectives and development of actions to deal with
  exceptions, undertaking timely interpretation of financial information and proactively acting to address the issue ensuring high quality performance information.
• Assist in providing a comprehensive and effective Non Domestic Rates Service and Council Tax Service dealing with the administration and maintenance of accounts and the award of discounts, exemptions and reliefs to ensure correct billing
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including managers, employees and members of the public, ensuring information and communication links are maintained

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years experience within a Benefits, Taxation & Income Officer role or equivalent.
• Level 2 qualification or equivalent
• Experience of working in a Financial Services environment.
• Ability to use decision making and judgment skills while handling and processing large amounts of complex manual and computerised information ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
