Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a local authority in Hampshire are looking for an experienced Youth Justice Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their Young People's Service.

Position: Youth Justice Officer
Location: Hampshire
Salary: £23 p/h umbrella
Contract: 3 months possible extension 

Key Responsibilities

• Providing sentence planning, support and post release supervision for children serving detention and training orders and other custodial sentences.
• Working with parents of children who have offended and those at risk of offending, individually, and in groups, to support them, and assist them gain the necessary skills and confidence in parenting their child/young person at risk of offending.
• Using ASSET+ contributing to the overall assessments, including risk assessments, on young people entering the criminal justice system, identifying factors that have led to their offending.
• Liaising with Children’s Services in respect of services for young offenders i.e. for Children in Need, Children Looked After and Child Protection services.

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of policies, statutory regulations and guidance relating to criminal justice, CPS and Court processes and procedures.
• Experience and application of ASSET+ or equivalent assessment frameworks, preferably in a criminal justice setting.
• Previous experience of working with Children & Families in a Social Work /Care/Youth/YOS or criminal justice setting (paid or voluntary)
• Proven experience of working with a range of professionals on work relating to children and families, criminal justice and young people
• Knowledge of adversarial childhood experiences and of working in a trauma informed way.
