Role: Temporary Study Programme/English & Maths Consultant
Location: Cross Campus
Hours per Week: 37 (Please note that lunch breaks are unpaid and should not be claimed on weekly timesheets.)

Role Overview The Study Programme/English & Maths Consultant will provide strategic leadership across campuses, driving excellence in the delivery of English and maths programmes. This role is central to improving student outcomes, ensuring innovative teaching methods, and aligning curriculum offerings with local and regional employment demands.

As a key figure, you will manage a cross-campus team, oversee resources, and deliver measurable improvements in teaching quality, learner experience, and success rates. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional passionate about education and committed to ensuring every learner thrives.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective teaching models for English and maths that lead to high student success rates and positive destinations.
• Align curriculum development with local labour market needs and employer expectations.
• Ensure all learners excel across their programmes and progress to quality destinations.
• Stay informed on sector developments and adjust strategies to maintain the College’s competitive edge.

Management Responsibilities

• Provide inspirational leadership and support to staff across campuses.
• Ensure effective communication of College priorities, goals, and tasks.
• Manage resources efficiently, meeting utilisation targets and staying within budget.
• Oversee staff performance, setting clear targets and conducting regular reviews.
• Prepare for inspections and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements.
• Lead on data reporting and compliance within the designated area.

Curriculum Development

• Develop a forward-thinking curriculum strategy aligned with current and future labour market demands.
• Innovate delivery models, incorporating advanced technologies and diverse funding opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with employers and stakeholders to enhance curriculum relevance.
• Drive improvements in teaching quality through CPD programmes and staff development initiatives.
• Ensure all learners access high-quality lessons that lead to successful outcomes.

Quality Improvement

• Implement the College’s quality improvement processes, maintaining high standards and addressing underperformance.
• Drive attendance and engagement initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Monitor and support at-risk learners with timely interventions.
• Foster positive relationships with parents and carers to enhance student success.
• Regularly review and act on learner feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Person Specification Qualifications

• Essential:
  
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed).
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• Desirable:
  
  • A management qualification.

Skills and Experience

• Essential:
  
  • Proven management experience in education or a relevant industry.
  • Successful teaching background with curriculum planning expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of funding methodologies and budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement quality improvement processes and achieve measurable success.
  • Experience with teaching observations and staff development.
• Desirable:
  
  • Experience in recruitment and selection of teaching staff.
