Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Northeast England, are looking for an experienced Principal Accountancy Assistant to join their team and play a crucial role in their finance operations. 

Position: Principal Accountancy Assistant
Rate: £20.93 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (April 2025) with Possible Extension
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days in the office) 37 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide a comprehensive financial management service ensuring that proper accounting procedures are followed and that the use of resources is maximised.
• Supporting the Principal Accountant in the year-end closedown and preparation of notes to the statement of accounts - Areas of responsibility would include: capital accounting for property, plant and equipment and leases, including IFRS16.
• To maintain proper budgetary control, forecasting and profiling of all revenue and capital budgets and alignment with appropriate funding sources; to include liaison with project managers, budget holders.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Principal Accountancy Assistant role or equivalent.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. 
• Full Association of Accounting Technicians qualified or equivalent relevant qualification.
• • Substantial experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
