Tempting Recruitment are working on behalf of our client, a local authority in North West London, to recruit an experienced Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer. Contract: 3 months minimum (Possible Extension)
Salary: £21 p/h (Umbrella)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift Pattern: Full-time  

DUTIES   

• Assisting homeless households to avoid the experience of temporary accommodation.
• To explore and present a range of housing options to resolve housing needs.
• Engaging with all necessary to stop the loss of their current accommodation.
• Dealing with a range of cases, including complex cases which may be subject to judicial review and ombudsman enquiries.
• Conducting statutory homelessness assessments and supporting households to sustain their tenancies.

• Previous experience working within the public sector or a similar organisation.
• Demonstrable experience within a Homelessness Prevention role or equivalent.
• Comprehensive knowledge of all core legislation such as the Housing Act 1985, Housing Act 1996 as amended by Homelessness Act 2002, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, housing needs issues, related legislation and case law.
• Proven experience of application of the Suitability Assessment in recommending potential pathways for applicants.
• Previously worked with households experiencing a housing crisis and the provision of advice and assistance covering a range of aspects of that crisis.
