Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Appeals & Disputes Specialist to join their team and play a crucial role within their Revenues Operations

Position: Appeals & Disputes Specialist
Rate: £20.29 p/h Umbrella
Contract Duration: 3 months with Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Job Duties: 

• Act as the technical expert to determine outcomes on all complex revisions, backdated claims, and formal appeals across Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and discretionary allowances.
•  Liaison effectively with HM Courts & Tribunals Service and the Valuation Office, preparing submissions and acting as a professional witness to represent the Council.
• Continuous Improvement & Systems: Identify procedural updates triggered by case law changes, assist with software user acceptance testing (UAT), and compile required performance reports.
• Team Support & Fraud Risk: Provide targeted one-to-one training and mentoring for less experienced staff while maintaining vigilance by referring suspected fraudulent activity to the Corporate Fraud Unit.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Appeals & Disputes Specialist or similar role
• Previous experience working for a Local Authority or similar organisation.
