Job Role: Assessment Officer
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: Until September 2025 (possible extension)
Number of Positions: 1 position
Location: Bristol
Office Based/Hybrid: Fully remote
DBS Required: Basic DBS required
Rate of Pay: £200 a day umbrella inside IR35
Pay Negotiable: Yes
Short Brief/Requirement: Minimum 3 years Housing benefit assessment experience and recent experience of NEC and Enterprise


Purpose:
The assessment and administration of applications for the organisation's statutory and discretionary schemes, including those of a possible complex nature.

Key Responsibilities:

• To carry out complex assessments, including adjudicating on fraud and disputed assessments.
• Contribution to service enhancement projects concerning work appropriate to this grade point.
• The maintenance and updating of claims in response to information received from internal and external sources.
• The processing of reported changes in circumstances affecting these applications.
• Maximisation of opportunities for delivering outstanding service by effectively communicating with customers and stakeholders by telephone, email and by letter.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 3 years experience within an Assessment Officer role or equivalent.
• Experience of working with two or more of the flowing client groups; homeless people, care leavers, ex-offenders, disabled people, vulnerable children and families, vulnerable people from black and minority ethnic groups, families with disabled children, older people.
