Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced SEN Tribunal Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their SEND operations.  

Position: SEN Tribunal Officer
Rate: Up to £400 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (3 Months) with Possible Extension 

Purpose:

• As a SEND resolution officer, you will represent the service and develop practice across the Special Educational Needs Team to reduce the Local Authority’s exposure to risk of appeals to Tribunals

Job Responsibilities: 

• To be a source of expert advice to the Council and SEN officers on all aspects of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
• To take the lead on complex casework, providing effective mediation, drawing on strong negotiation and influencing skills across a range of complex SEN issues between parents, schools and multi-disciplinary practitioners.
• To attend resolution meetings with parents and other professionals to settle disputed issues without the need for formal legal redress wherever possible.
• This will include responsibility for negotiating changes to the EHC plans using tact and diplomacy through working with families experiencing emotional turmoil.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a SEN Tribunal Officer role or equivalent.
• GCSE Qualifications, including English and Maths (grade 4 or C and above).
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the impact of SEND on children and young people’s educational, health and social care outcomes.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
