Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join their team and play a crucial role in their payroll & pension operations.   

Position: Payroll Team Leader
Rate: £32 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (6 Months) with Possible Extension 

Purpose:

• As Payroll Team Leader, you will oversee activity in the Employee Services team to ensure our payroll processes are delivered accurately and efficiently.
• You will play a key role in contributing to the successful implementation of our new people system by ensuring a smooth transition from our current payroll system whilst maintaining the reliability and success of our payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Supervision: Lead and manage the payroll team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and professional development.
• Payroll Processing: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including salary calculations, deductions, third party reconciliations.
• Pensions Management: Oversee pension-related processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all pension transactions and reporting.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Payroll Team Leader role or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Payroll Team Leader or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, laws, statutory payments and regulations.
• Experience with pensions management, ideally within a defined benefit environment.
