Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Northwest England, are looking for an experienced Council Tax Revenue Officer to join their team and play a crucial role within their revenue collection operations.        

Position: Council Tax Revenue Officer
Rate: £25 per hour (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (3 Months) with Possible Extension  

Purpose:

• To contribute to the provision of a quality Revenue collection service for all streams, including but not limited to Council Tax, Business Rates, Parking, Leasehold, Commercial Rent, General Income, Housing Benefit Overpayment and Rent, undertaking a range of activities in accordance with legislation, statutory regulations, council policy, operational procedures and performance indicators.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Ensure that the correct details regarding liability, collection and enforcement are recorded on the Council’s revenues systems and to undertake the tracing of debtors in order that the correct action is taken to recover all unpaid accounts.
• To receive payments from customers and to ensure payments are kept secure and are recorded and credited to the customer’s account accurately and promptly.
• To undertake the allocation of income from suspense accounts, including the transfer of credits between accounts and invoices. To identify errors/discrepancies and to undertake reconciliation of accounts taking corrective action as required.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Council Tax Revenue Officer role or equivalent.
• Must be able to demonstrate GCSE level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
