Hourly Rate: £30 p/hour

Hours: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5pm 
Duration: 6 months (Possible Extension)

Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Engineering Design Team within the City Design service area at Bristol City Council. This role involves a mix of office-based work (2 days per week) and site supervision at remote locations around Bristol (up to 3 days per week).

The successful candidate will manage the design and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring innovative and effective solutions for urban highway and active travel schemes. This includes working closely with stakeholders to achieve the city’s urban transport objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct site surveys, investigations, and inspections.
• Develop and deliver designs, specifications, plans, estimates, and reports using CAD and other software tools.
• Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to specifications, safety, and timelines.
• Liaise with statutory bodies and internal teams to coordinate delivery and manage conflicts.
• Oversee project budgets and financial management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior team members.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or professional accreditation (IEng/CEng) with ICE, IHE, or CIHT.
• Hands-on experience in urban highway and active travel design.
• Proficiency with design software and an understanding of current technical standards.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
