Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Education Welfare Officer to join their team based in London

PAY RATE: £20- £25 per hour

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Education Welfare Office will ensure at all times that maximum effort is given to keeping young people in education with particular attention given to promoting full-time attendance (for those of compulsory school age) and preventing exclusion through educational achievement, positive behaviour
and constructive activity for the children and young people. 
  
JOB DESCRIPTION

• To assess, maintain and progress a caseload of families who require targeted intervention in relation to attendance or inclusion in accordance with service procedures, with the aim of addressing the targeted needs identified and assessed within service standards using a Team Around the Family (TAF) approach. To support and promote schools where appropriate to make use of alternatives to permanent exclusion, including managed moves where appropriate, reducing the number of permanently excluded pupils
• To ensure that all evidence for prosecution is quality assured and all evidence meets required standards for prosecution

• To use a variety of professional skills, including consultation, identification,
  assessment, intervention planning/delivery and review to promote effective
  partnerships between stakeholders, children and young people, their parents/carers,
  practitioners and education providers who work with them (especially schools) and to
  achieve positive outcomes for children and young people and their families who maybe vulnerable as a result of poor school attendance or risk of exclusion 

  
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

• Relevant level 3 qualification or above in childcare/education or
  other related discipline and commensurate literacy and numeracy
  skills
• Knowledge of the risk factors impacting upon vulnerable children,
  young people and their families in a multi-cultural environment and
  evidence-based interventions to meet those needs
• Knowledge of relevant procedures and legal frameworks and a
  demonstrable ability to apply this to practice, including: law and
  guidance in relation to school attendance and exclusion
  safeguarding and child protection, equalities and diversity and
  special educational needs and disabilities
• Experience of successful working in an integrated manner,
  including team working and partnership in the context of TAF and
  leadership functions as relating to the Lead Professional role
