About the Role
We are seeking a General Manager, Chemist Discount Centre (CDC) to lead and transform the CDC franchise network. This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end accountability for franchise performance, growth, and commercial outcomes. Acting as the primary ambassador for the CDC brand, you will drive strategy, brand positioning, and franchise success while aligning the business with IPA’s broader B2B (member) and B2C (consumer) objectives.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape a distinct franchise model, support independent community pharmacies, and deliver measurable impact across Australia’s healthcare and wellness landscape.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of CDC’s network growth strategy, including footprint expansion, brand positioning, and franchise model evolution.
- Own the franchise recruitment pipeline, including prospecting, assessment, selection, and commercial negotiation.
- Conduct site feasibility, demographic analysis, and commercial modelling for new and existing sites.
- Oversee onboarding and franchise transitions to ensure a smooth, coordinated experience across IPA teams.
- Collaborate with Network Development and Operations on store builds, relocations, refurbishments, and format compliance.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with franchise partners.
- Establish consistent communication and engagement rhythms across the network.
- Manage escalations, performance issues, and franchise compliance.
- Ensure franchisees receive coordinated support through defined pathways for operations, marketing, and merchandising needs.
- Own the commercial performance of the CDC business unit.
- Develop pricing frameworks, commercial models, and profitability strategies in partnership with the GM Merchandising & Consumer Marketing.
- Provide reporting to the MD and GMs on performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Build business cases for new initiatives, footprint expansion, and store reinvestments.
Skills & Experience - Senior leadership experience within franchising, retail networks, or multi-site operations.
- Proven experience in commercial strategy, business unit ownership, or P&L management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability in franchise recruitment, commercial negotiation, and network expansion.
- Strong analytical skills in commercial modelling, feasibility assessments, and performance reporting.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a virtual environment.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
