About the Role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Innovative Medicines plays a key role within the Medical Affairs team, supporting scientific and clinical engagement with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders across Australia and New Zealand. The role is responsible for delivering accurate, balanced, and compliant medical information, supporting evidence-based decision-making and the appropriate use of innovative medicines.
Support the execution of medical strategy across ANZ through external engagement, insights generation, and medical education. Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams to ensure aligned medical engagement.
This role is suited to a medical affairs professional who brings strong therapeutic expertise, credibility with healthcare professionals, and the ability to build trusted relationships that support improved patient outcomes.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact scientific engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs), delivering accurate, balanced, and compliant medical information across your therapeutic area.
- Support and facilitate educational initiatives including advisory boards, symposia, speaker programs, and digital/webinar content to advance evidence-based clinical practice.
- Develop tailored scientific exchange plans for priority KOLs and HCPs, mapping engagements to medical objectives, lifecycle priorities, and internal strategy.
- Gather, analyse, and report insights from HCP/KOL interactions, identifying unmet needs, clinical trends, and competitive intelligence to inform publications, evidence generation, and lifecycle planning.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial, and Clinical teams to align field activities with product launches, medical strategy, and brand planning, including supporting internal training and launch readiness.
- Maintain compliance and documentation standards, recording all scientific exchanges accurately in CRM systems and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Experience - 3–5+ years’ pharmaceutical/biotech experience, preferably in field medical roles (MSL, Medical Advisor, Medical Information Specialist) within Australia/ANZ.
- Proven track record in scientific engagement with Australian HCPs and KOLs, including peer-to-peer discussions, advisory boards, and insight reporting.
- Deep therapeutic area expertise in your innovative medicine's portfolio, including disease states, clinical guidelines, and emerging treatment paradigms.
- Advanced scientific communication and stakeholder management skills, building credible partnerships with KOLs, disease groups, and health networks.
- Strong insight gathering, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, contributing to evidence generation, lifecycle planning, and alignment with medical strategy.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian regulatory and compliance requirements, including TGA, AHPRA, Medicines Australia Code, pharmacovigilance, and ethical standards.
