Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West London, are looking for an experienced Trading Standards Enforcement Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their Trading Operations.   

Position: Trading Standards Enforcement Officer
Rate: £31.35 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: 8 Months
Work arrangement: Hybrid 3 days in office


Job Responsibilities: 

• To achieve compliance with all statutory and non statutory requirements that come within the functional responsibility of the post by providing advice and enforcement of consumer protection legislation in the subject areas of fair trading, safety, scams, rogue trading, underage sales and weights & measures (with suitable qualification).
• Handling service requests, providing business advice to include ‘primary authority’ partnerships to achieve compliance, conducting inspections and investigations using the full range of powers and ensuring both Council and Service objectives are achieved.
• Providing a customer focused service, deputising for a Team Leader when required and taking responsibility for the day to day operation of such staff as assigned to the post holder. All the posts are interchangeable between borough teams.

Job Requirements:

• Possess an in-depth and current knowledge of consumer protection law including offences, defences and powers, relevant case law and its application.
• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Trading Standards Officer role or equivalent.
• Enhanced DBS
