Role Purpose:

The Senior Building Control Officer is responsible for enforcing Building Regulations and associated legislation, acting as a Registered Building Inspector under the Building Safety Act 2022. This role involves managing development proposals through the Building Control process, from pre-application stages to completion, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development teams on major projects, ensuring compliance with legislation, government policy, and council initiatives.
• Represent the council on Building Control matters as part of the multi-disciplinary team for the Building Safety Regulator, ensuring obligations under the Building Safety Act are met.
• Provide expert technical advice on Building Control and related issues, making key decisions on major applications.
• Maintain and apply in-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, structural engineering, fire engineering, and related fields.

• Qualifications: Degree in Construction/Building Surveying, HNC (Building/Civil/Structures), graduate IFE, or equivalent with relevant Building Control experience.
• Registration: Must hold or be eligible for valid registration with the Building Safety Regulator (minimum Class 2 under the Building Inspector Competency Framework).
• Knowledge: Sound awareness of the legislative framework governing Local Authority Building Control functions and in-depth understanding of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• Experience: Significant experience in Building Control, particularly in a city/urban environment,
