Job Title: Public Health Senior Practitioner – Tobacco Dependency Treatment Commissioning
Salary: £45 per hour
Contract Type: Fixed Term (6 months, January to mid-May 2025)
Hours: (flexible between 20–26 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid (remote and occasional travel to Southampton Civic Centre)
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Public Health team to shape the commissioning of tobacco dependency treatment services and advance wider tobacco control initiatives. You will work on implementing pathways funded by the lo grant, emphasizing social inclusion and health equity.
Key responsibilities include:

• Commissioning and contract management of tobacco dependency services.
• Budget oversight for related programs.
• Assessing population needs, developing evidence-based strategies, and evaluating services.
• Collaborating with the Senior Practitioner and Consultant leading tobacco control efforts.

This role allows for hybrid working, with monthly in-person collaboration in Southampton, or full-time Civic Centre work if preferred.
Key Dates:

• Interviews & Induction: To be completed before 18 December 2024.
• Role Duration: Starting 6 January 2025 until mid-May 2025 (maximum of one day less than six months).

About You:
To succeed in this role, you must have:

• Essential Experience:
• A minimum of one year in commissioning tobacco dependency (smoking cessation) treatment services in England.
• Proven ability to manage contracts and budgets for health programs.
• Senior-level experience applying national public health guidance.
• Local authority experience or exceptional transferable skills.
• Desirable Qualifications:
• MSc in Public Health or Health Improvement.
• Skills:
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• A collaborative, self-starting approach with innovative problem-solving capabilities.
