A growing organization seeking a strong, hands-on Controller to strengthen accounting operations, support an upcoming ERP integration, and partner closely with the VP of Finance. This is a high-impact role with clear growth potential as the company continues to scale.
The Controller will oversee and strengthen the accounting function for a well-established organization in the real estate sector. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, leading the month-end close, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and partnering with leadership to support operational and strategic decisions. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident leading accounting processes end to end.
Responsibilities - Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and support audit/tax-related requests as needed
- Manage accounting schedules and reconciliations (prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, etc.)
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis; provide insights to leadership
- Partner with operational stakeholders to improve workflows, reporting accuracy, and financial visibility
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff (as applicable)
- Support process improvements, system enhancements, and special projects
Qualifications - 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of close and reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred) or in a similar field
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices and financial statement preparation
- Experience operating in a deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with accounting systems/ERPs and advanced Excel skills
- Clear communicator with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
