Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority based in West London, are looking for an experienced Category Specialist to join their team and play a crucial role in their generalist procurement operations.       

Position: Category Specialist
Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Nov 2026) Possible Extension  

Purpose:

• This role manages the delivery of end-to-end procurement activity allocated within the category working with a range of senior officers across the Council. 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Run end to end procurement activity for the appropriate category and sub-categories ensuring the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of tender and contract documentation using innovative solutions to secure compliant timely delivery.
• Provide strong leadership and effective management of contract and supplier management to maximize value for money.
• The role leads and delivers all small and medium size procurement projects within the category plan, ensuring the Council is compliant with the national regulations and continually enhances its local regulations.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• Procurement Specialism: Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualified or equivalent experience and working towards this at the entry levels of the grade.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
