Position: Travel and Statistics Officer
Location: Bristol City
Duration: 6 Months 
Rate: £16.94 per hour
Hours: 18.5
DBS Required: Standard DBS Check Required.

Purpose of the Role: 

The role supports the planning, monitoring, and delivery of home-to-school travel arrangements for children and young people, including those with additional needs. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Process requests and provide support for Home to School Travel, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance, council policies, and SEND Code of Practice.
• Support the team with the administration and processing of Personal Travel Budgets, including liaising with families and monitoring attendance data.
• Maintain and analyse spreadsheets and data sets, identifying trends that may impact the service or budget.
• Assist in calculating recharges for travel to other council teams and local authorities.
• Undertake general office duties such as filing, correspondence, post handling, and stationery ordering.
• Ensure secure and confidential handling of data in line with GDPR and Council policies.
• Provide customer-focused support to internal teams, elected members, the public, and external stakeholders.
• Participate in training and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and compliant working environment.

• Relevant qualifications at Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) with substantial relevant experience.
• Awareness of the needs of children and young people with additional needs and the statutory guidance related to their travel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Confident in basic financial calculations and data analysis.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve information efficiently.
• Ability to coordinate tasks and support project delivery.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
• A team player with a willingness to develop and learn new systems.
• Awareness and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.

• Background in transport, education, or special educational needs (SEND).
• Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and Home to School Travel statutory guidance.
• Experience of working in a Home to School Travel service or a related field.
• Ability to present and analyse data using visual formats such as graphs, diagrams, or maps.
