Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a local Authority in London are looking for a Mechanical and Infrastructure Technician to join their team.

Position: Infrastructure Technician
Location: West London
Duration: 3 Months 
Rate: £17.40 per hour

Purpose of the Role: 

To provide technical support to the Traffic and Highways Asset Team within the Environment and Enterprise Directorate, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services aimed at improving the quality of life for Harrow’s residents and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce high-quality technical drawings, maps, estimates, designs, and reports across engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate public consultations to inform scheme designs.
• Assist in the preparation of reports, briefings, and supporting documents for committees and legal processes.
• Support the development and implementation of systems to improve service delivery.
• Maintain and update asset management systems (e.g. Exor) to ensure accurate data availability.
• Manage and prioritise reactive maintenance works, issuing work orders within budgetary constraints.
• Develop and maintain systems for data collection, retrieval, and archiving to support operational needs.
• Conduct site surveys, investigations, and inspections, making recommendations for follow-up actions.
• Respond to public enquiries, complaints, and requests regarding infrastructure design with professionalism and customer focus.
• Assist in compiling evidence for legal proceedings related to the postholder’s area of responsibility.
• Monitor and assess the quality and progress of works, ensuring they meet required standards and deadlines.
• Identify risks and impacts to individuals and communities, and implement mitigation measures.
• Stay informed on relevant legislation, policies, and technical developments to ensure best practice.
• Use relevant office and engineering software tools to support daily activities.
• Operate within the Environmental Management System (ISO14001), receiving necessary training as required.
• Escalate any significant issues affecting service delivery to management promptly.
• Undertake any other duties relevant to the role and grade as required.

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in relevant subjects.
• BTEC or similar qualification in engineering, or demonstrable equivalent work-based experience.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations, and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001).
• Familiarity with traffic engineering or highway management principles.
