Design Release Engineer – Senior #1031156
Job Description:
- The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor and A/C lines.
- The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling and suppliers.
- Duties will include (not limited to) writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables. Candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required.
- Need to lead virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance.
- Candidate will also need to support pilot and pre-production build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of AC line and compressors.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or A/C line design/development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) also a plus.
- Experience with automotive packaging
- Very good knowledge about Unigraphics NX and CATIA
- Strong PC + MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter and motivated to produce results.
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
- Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
Preferred qualifications: - Experience in e-compressors, chillers, EV components are a plus.
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
- Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
- Automotive assembly plant experience.
- HVAC system engineering knowledge.
- Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
