Day rate contract - Infrastructure/ L3 Engineer - Microsoft Environment - 
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, this Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the environment, acting as the L3 escalation point for infrastructure and end user issues.
 
This is a hands-on, operationally focused role, with a strong emphasis on BAU support, ticket resolution, and maintaining the stability of core systems across Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, and backup platforms.
You'll work closely with the broader IT team to troubleshoot complex issues, support ongoing improvements, and ensure a reliable and secure environment across the business.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Act as the L3 escalation point for infrastructure and end user compute issues
• Manage and support core infrastructure across Windows Server, VMware, and Azure
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint)
• Maintain and support backup and recovery platforms
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and service requests
• Support and optimise endpoint management (Intune / device management)
• Work across BAU and minor project work as required
• Contribute to system improvements, documentation, and operational efficiency

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in infrastructure support / system administration roles
• Proven experience operating as an L3 escalation point in a BAU environment
• Solid experience across Windows Server, VMware, and Azure
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and end user technologies
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions
• Good troubleshooting skills across infrastructure and endpoint issues
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a ticket-driven environment
• Team player with a proactive and reliable approach
