We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Team Leader to join our Environmental Laboratory in Smithfield, NSW. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, prioritising work orders, managing workloads, and ensuring optimal turnaround times without compromising quality. You will provide leadership to the Inorganic section, support the Laboratory Manager in administrative coordination, and drive efficiency and productivity improvements. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, strong customer focus, and excellent organisational, supervisory, and computer skills. The day to day
- Prioritising work orders with respect to turnaround times.
- Monitor signature workload queries and general workloads (in conjunction with Laboratory Manager) and assign ‘due dates’ for reporting results including increasing and decreasing client TATs (compress workloads) to smooth levels.
- Manage staffing levels according to workflows through labour management and cross training and proactively recommend on resources as required.
- Provide technical support to Client Services with respect to holding times.
- Provide a professional approach and leadership in the Inorganic section.
- Optimise turnaround time without compromising quality.
- Regularly assess the laboratory with a view to increasing productivity, efficiency, safety and teamwork.
- Assist the Laboratory Manager with the efficient running and the overall administrative coordination of the Environmental Laboratory.
- Other duties related to the successful operation and administration of the Laboratory, as requested by laboratory management.
