We are currently seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead our Springvale Environmental laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where individuals and teams can succeed.
  
The day to day
In this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of professionals and help shape the way we work—focusing on operational efficiency, strong people leadership, and service excellence. Your key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing daily production and coordinating sample workflows
• Managing staff resourcing, rosters, and labour planning
• Leading capacity planning to support volume growth and equipment upgrades
• Driving performance metrics including service delivery times, accuracy, and efficiency
• Maintaining compliance with long-term HR strategies and performance management requirements
• Supporting a strong quality system, including audit response and data integrity
• Ensuring laboratory methods meet or exceed company and industry standards (ISO17025)
• Championing a proactive safety culture and ensuring HSE compliance across all lab activity
• Authorising the purchase of consumables and managing operational costs
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement through new tech, systems, and workflows
• Leading and mentoring the team to build capability, accountability, and future leadership
• Collaborating with the Business Manager and State Manager on lab operations and strategy

  
The Essentials
We’re looking for a confident, people-first leader with a hands-on approach and a passion for quality science. You’ll bring:

• A degree in Science (ideally Chemistry or related field)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills—you bring people with you
• A supportive leadership style that balances accountability with care
• Sound understanding of lab operations, quality standards, and safety protocols
• Experience managing production or lab workflows in a fast-paced environment
• A commitment to team development and a proactive mindset with a focus on results and continuous improvement
• Strong organisational skills and sound decision-making capability
