We are currently seeking an experienced Business Manager to lead our national Environmental operations in Hamilton, New Zealand. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering operational excellence, driving strategic growth, and fostering a high-performance culture across the business. You’ll join a committed team of professionals in a role where you can make a real impact.
The day to day
The role will be responsible for:
- Leading business operations to achieve financial targets and sustainable growth
- Developing and executing strategic plans that align with national goals
- Managing performance across client services, laboratory operations, and business development
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Overseeing staff development, succession planning, and workforce capability
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal HSE, quality, and governance standards
- Driving continuous improvement and innovation across systems and processes
- Representing the New Zealand Environmental business in negotiations, reporting, and key decision-making
The essentials: To succeed in this role, you’ll bring commercial acumen, operational leadership, and a people-first approach. In addition, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Science and/or Business
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in laboratory and/or business operations, with at least 5 in a leadership role
- A strong understanding of ISO17025 and HSE compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience developing budgets, managing EBIT performance, and leading multidisciplinary teams
- A track record of driving results through strategy, innovation, and collaboration
