The Role

We have a career-changing opportunity waiting for you in Hydrographics – an industry that combines science, engineering, the environment, data management and cutting-edge technology with the largest Australian Hydrographics team.
The successful candidate will receive extensive in-house training and one-on-one mentoring as part of your career development plan:
- Company sponsored support in completing industry specific training.
- Advanced Life Support First Aid course.
- In house systems, equipment, and role specific technical training.
- One-on-one mentoring.
Trainee to intermediate experience level preferred. Salary and role adjustments considered for applicants with experience that are looking for change with assured confidentiality throughout the recruitment process.
The Day to Day A diverse and challenging role focused on the design, build, assembly, and configuration of environmental monitoring systems, supplied to ALS offices around Australia as well as direct supply to external clients. All with the support of your 1-1 mentor!
- Design, manufacture and testing of automated monitoring systems.
- Wiring, soldering, and assembly of terminals and 12V control panels.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Provide technical support to field staff, project teams and clients.
- Perform general technical and administrative duties.
- Potential for overseas travel for field installation of monitoring stations.
The Essentials - A minimum of year 12 secondary education with abilities in Science, English and Mathematics desirable.
- A competent level of computer skill is expected, together with practical and technical aptitude.
- A strong work ethic, initiative, and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as with limited supervision.
- Ability to use hand tools to fabricate instrument panels.
- An interest in telemetry communications, satellite, 4G, IoT would be beneficial.
- An interest or experience in datalogger coding/programming would be beneficial.
- Experience using AutoCAD would be beneficial.
- Experienced in a similar workplace or industry is desirable, but not essential.
- Appropriate Trade and/or Tertiary qualification is desirable, but not essential.
