Assistant Accountant Internship – Melbourne, VIC

About the Position We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant Intern for a host company based in Melbourne, VIC.
This is an on-site role designed to give you practical exposure to day-to-day accounting operations.
As an Assistant Accountant Intern, you will support the finance team with tasks such as:

• Updating and maintaining financial records
• Processing invoices and assisting with accounts receivable/payable
• Completing bank and petty cash reconciliations
• Assisting the team with month-end and year-end financial reporting
• Supporting the preparation of tax documentation and business activity statements (BAS)
• Using accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or SAP
• Ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial documentation
• Collaborating with team members to resolve discrepancies and maintain clean financial data

This internship is ideal for someone who wants to build solid technical foundations and gain exposure to how accounting operates within a professional business environment.
About You To qualify for this role, you must:

• Be studying a relevant degree or be a recent graduate
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate strong technical and soft skills in accounting
• Be committed to building a career in the accounting/finance field
• Be available to work at least 3 days per week

Learning Outcomes During this internship, you may gain experience in:

• Ledger entry and bookkeeping
• Income & Expenditure Reports, Profit & Loss Statements, and Trial Balances
• BAS and tax reporting
• AP/AR processing
