Mechanical Supervisor - Tank Rehabilitation & Oil & Gas Projects

Senior (8-10 Years)
We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support storage tank rehabilitation and mechanical construction activities within large-scale oil, gas, and petrochemical projects. The role involves close coordination with contractors, inspection teams, and project engineers to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality execution of works in line with international and QatarEnergy standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day mechanical construction and tank rehabilitation activities, including excavation, cleaning, erection, and repair of large welded storage tanks
- Coordinate with contractors, manufacturers, and inspectors to ensure work execution complies with contract requirements, approved procedures, and international standards
- Monitor progress, productivity, manpower, and material availability; ensure schedules are achieved safely and efficiently
- Participate in inspections, kick-off meetings, site briefings, and technical evaluations
- Review inspection reports, rehabilitation scope, drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Support tender preparation, technical bid evaluation, and contractor capability assessment
- Ensure contractor compliance with QatarEnergy / Shell standards, HSE requirements, and quality systems (ISO 9001:2000)
- Liaise with welding inspectors to ensure welding works comply with applicable codes and practices
- Review and verify contractor invoices, quantities, progress statements, and variation requests
- Support punch listing, final acceptance, and project close-out documentation
- Participate in emergency preparedness, incident reporting, and risk mitigation activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement, process optimization, and best-practice implementation in tank rehabilitation works
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline (4 years)
- Master's degree will be an added advantage
- Strong command of English (written & spoken)
- Computer literate with working knowledge of relevant engineering software
- Knowledge of SAP (MM / PM / External Services) is desirable
- Strong communication, coordination, and decision-making skills
