Position: Welding Engineer
Location: UAE
Duration: 2 Months

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Development & Optimization

• Design, develop, and qualify welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ).
• Select and implement appropriate welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.
• Optimize welding parameters to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.

2. Technical Support

• Provide engineering support to production welders and shop personnel.
• Troubleshoot welding issues, including defects, distortion, and equipment malfunctions.
• Evaluate weldability of materials, joint designs, and fixturing.

3. Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, API).
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Conduct inspections and coordinate NDT methods (UT, RT, MT, PT, VT).

4. Research & Development

• Evaluate and implement new welding technologies, equipment, and consumables.
• Lead welding trials, automation initiatives, and process improvements.

5. Project & Documentation

• Prepare and maintain documentation related to welding procedures, qualifications, and process controls.
• Support project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling of welding activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, QA/QC, production, and safety.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure welding activities meet safety standards and regulations.
• Implement best practices for the safe use of equipment and handling of materials.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
• Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng/CWE/CWI) preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in welding-related activities within the Oil & Gas project environment.
• Proficiency with welding equipment, metallurgy, and fabrication techniques.
• Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104).
• Experience with CAD software, process simulation, or robotics is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Oil & Gas or petrochemical industries.
• Familiarity with advanced welding technologies and automation.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
