Positions: QC Engineer & Inspectors (Welding, Coating & E and I)

Location: UAE

Duration: 1 to 2 months

ADNOC approval is mandatory for all positions.

We have outlined the positions, along with the brief responsibilities & qualifications required for each role

1. QC Engineer
 
Job Description:

• Serve as the quality control specialist for cross-country pipeline projects, ensuring adherence to all project specifications, standards, and client expectations.
• Perform inspections on both automatic and manual welding processes and ensure that all welding activities comply with relevant codes and standards like ASME, API, or equivalent.
• Oversee piping inspection activities, ensuring material integrity, proper fit-up, alignment, and compliance with welding procedures.
• Review and interpret project documentation, such as engineering drawings, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and PQR (Procedure Qualification Record).
• Perform NDT review and coordinate testing (e.g., RT, UT, PT, MT), ensuring the weld integrity meets code requirements.
• Provide leadership in resolving technical challenges related to quality control for ongoing welding and piping activities.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to guarantee compliance with QA/QC standards and procedures.
• Lead the preparation of detailed quality reports and maintain a comprehensive inspection documentation system.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 10-15 years' experience in quality control with a focus on cross-country pipeline projects.
• Deep understanding of auto and manual welding processes, welding standards, and associated quality assurance methods.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards such as API 1104, ASME Section IX, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with inspection related to piping, structural components, and materials.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills to manage QA/QC teams across project sites.

2. QC Welding Inspector
 
Job Description:

• Conduct inspections on all welding works (manual and automatic) for cross-country pipeline projects to verify code compliance.
• Monitor the welding process to ensure that welding parameters remain within acceptable ranges defined in WPS.
• Conduct joint preparation checks and fit-up inspections prior to welding, ensuring alignment with P&IDs and drawings.
• Inspect welds visually and coordinate/conduct NDT activities such as UT, MPI, and radiographic testing (RT) for weld quality assessment.
• Ensure that welding consumables (such as electrodes) comply with specific standards and project requirements.
• Audit welder qualification certificates and maintain records for traceability.
• Identify any welding defects, ensure corrective actions are applied, and re-inspection is performed.
• Actively participate in quality audits, site issue resolutions, and provide feedback for quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in quality control within cross-country pipeline and piping domains.
• Expertise in auto and manual welding techniques and inspection.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and welding standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• Ability to utilize advanced inspection tools and software.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials preferred.

3. QC Coating Inspector
 
Job Description:

• Perform quality assurance activities for pipeline coating systems, ensuring compliance with 3LPE, HSS (Heat Shrink Sleeves), and UG (Underground) coating standards.
• Conduct inspections and monitor surface preparation activities, including abrasive blasting, pre-heating, and application process.
• Inspect coating thickness, adhesion, and integrity using testing techniques such as Holiday Detection and DFT measurement.
• Ensure proper material handling and storage for all coating products to avoid contamination.
• Oversee the repair procedures for coatings in compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain detailed coating inspection records and quality documentation.
• Conduct field inspections on pipeline sections to ensure coating systems remain defect-free and achieve longevity requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in cross-country pipeline projects, with a specialization in coating systems.
• Extensive experience in 3LPE, UG, and HSS coating systems.
• Certification(s) such as NACE Level 2/3 or equivalent in coating inspection.
• Strong understanding of international coating standards (e.g., SSPC, ASTM, and ISO).
• Proficient in using testing equipment for coatings like Holiday Detectors, thickness gauges, and environmental monitors.

4. QC Inspector (E&I)
 
Job Description:

• Perform quality inspections for electrical, instrumentation, cathodic protection, and telecom (FOC) systems in cross-country pipeline and piping projects.
• Inspect and verify installation and testing of electrical components, ensuring compliance with project standards.
• Oversee installation, calibration, and testing of instruments related to pressure, flow, temperature measurement, and other monitoring systems.
• Inspect and ensure cathodic protection systems meet project requirements, from installation to commissioning.
• Conduct end-to-end inspections of telecom systems such as fiber optic cabling (FOC) and supporting infrastructure for quality assurance.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure E&I installations comply with project specifications and international standards.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and quality reports for handover documentation.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in quality control for E&I in cross-country pipeline and piping projects.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical wiring, instrumentation systems, cathodic protection, and FOC installations.
• Familiarity with relevant standards and codes, including IEC, NEC, and API standards.
• Expertise in quality testing tools for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Excellent reporting skills and ability to liaise with multidisciplinary team members.
