R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited is seeking a Senior Building Science Engineer to join our growing Building Restoration Group. This is a senior-level, client-facing leadership role where your technical expertise and professional judgment will truly matter.
You will work with long-standing clients across North Central Ontario, leading projects from early assessment through construction, while being part of a collaborative, people-first consulting environment.
What you will be responsible for:

• Lead and manage building restoration projects including:
  • Concrete and façade restoration
  • Cladding renewal
  • Roof replacement
  • Building condition assessments
  • Reserve fund and capital planning
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, strengthening and growing long-term relationships.
• Prepare proposals, tenders, contracts, and oversee project financials and invoicing.
• Provide construction-phase services including site reviews and contract administration.
• Review, sign, and take professional responsibility for inspection reports and technical deliverables.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technologists, supporting their growth and development.
• Coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and quality assurance processes.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with all stakeholders from start to finish.

What you bring to the table:

• 10+ years of experience in building science and/or building restoration.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, applied science, or a related discipline.
• P.Eng. designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• BSS designation is considered a strong asset.
• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary projects and client accounts.
• Confident communication skills with the ability to bridge technical detail and client needs.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills in a consulting environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with comfort adapting to new systems.

Compensation:

• Build more than buildings. Build trust, impact, and legacy. up to $130,000 for the right candidate.
