Field Service Technician II – Aviation Interiors
Location: Charleston, SC
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $63,000–$68,000 annually
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000

About the Role
The Field Service Technician II provides on-site technical support for aircraft interior seating systems used in commercial aviation. This role supports both airframer and airline customers throughout aircraft build, installation, and delivery phases. The technician will address installation challenges, damaged components, rework items, cosmetic discrepancies, and customer-driven concerns.
Work may occur in Receiving, BFE areas, factory environments, or on the flight line. All rework must follow approved drawings, specifications, and procedures. This position operates under general supervision, resolves moderately complex issues independently, and escalates advanced matters to senior technicians.
What You’ll Do
- Perform rework and resolve pick-up items identified during aircraft build.
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty electronic components and damaged parts.
- Adjust misaligned panels, trim components, and support seat installation teams.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and adherence to technical standards.
- Respond promptly to customer and airframer communications.
- Build strong working relationships with airframer personnel and customer teams.
- Follow all safety guidelines and established processes.
- Submit accurate parts requests and understand POA/SOA processes.
- Safely operate company vehicles within facility grounds.
- Participate in daily stand-up/tie-in meetings.
- Complete required training related to safety, flight line operations, and company procedures.
- Coordinate with QA, Engineering, Leads, Technicians, and other key stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What It Takes to Thrive
Education - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field preferred.
Experience - Minimum 2 years of field service experience with a focus on troubleshooting and repair.
Badging - Ability to obtain required airframer facility badge.
Technical Skills - Strong mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of CMMs, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable using smartphones/tablets for communication and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a passport.

Preferred Qualifications - Hands-on electrical troubleshooting (voltage and continuity testing).
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Travel Requirements - Domestic and occasional international travel.
- Estimated 2–4 weeks per year.
Physical Requirements - Ability to work in confined aircraft cabin environments (under-seat, sidewall, overhead).
- Frequent kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, and working in restricted spaces.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs independently.
- Prolonged standing and repetitive mechanical tasks.
- Adequate dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity for technical work.
Work Environment Work is performed in aircraft production, completion, or maintenance hangars, and occasionally on active flight lines. Conditions may include:
- Elevated noise levels
- Use of power tools and industrial equipment
- Variable temperatures
- Non-climate-controlled environments
- Required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection)
